“If someone
asks me a question, ‘What is it you see when you look out the window that is
visible but not yet seen by others’ I will answer, ‘I see a world filled with
people with a huge potential lying untapped. If I can identify their strengths
and inspire them to unlock their potential, I feel that I have made a
difference in the world.’” —Professor M.S. Rao
We are
caught up in a cutthroat competitive world where we compete with others ruthlessly
to stay ahead of the life race without understanding the consequences and
repercussions.
You must
take a pause and reflect on yourself to lead your life with purpose and
meaning. There is no sense in getting into the rat race neglecting our relations
and the people around us. Enjoy each moment. Every one of you is a unique
being. If you are an employer, ensure work-life integration. If you are an
employee, emphasize work-life balance. There is growing mental illness and
depression globally because of the rat race. It is essential to end this rat
race to lead your life mindfully and meaningfully.
Social media
has thrown both challenges and opportunities where people often compare with
others without understanding others' challenges. Social media users often
present their rosy pictures. People don't understand it. Some of the so-called
spiritual gurus and guides on social media are failures in their personal
lives. Finally, they became spiritual guides and gurus. So don't compare with
them. Don't compete with others. Only compete with yourself and raise your bar
constantly.
We are into
a goal-oriented society. It is essential to be process-oriented, not
goal-oriented to enjoy life. Focus more
on the process, and less on the goals. When you reach your goals, you lose your
enthusiasm. So enjoy the process to reach your goal. Reset your goals. Enjoy
your journey, not your destination. Be a karma yogi.
When
everyone wants to cross the finish line first, then the problem starts. Ensure
that you cross the finish line at your own pace. Collaboration rather than
competition is essential. There is more meaning in collaboration rather than in
competition.
Takeaway: Start every
day on a clean slate. Life is a gift from God. Enjoy adding value to yourself
and others. Don't convert your entire life into a race. Compete with yourself,
not with others to lead your life with purpose and meaning. Life is not a race,
a journey. Enjoy the journey to lead your life meaningfully and mindfully.
“Life is not
a race but a pace we need to maintain with reality.” ―Amit Abraham
