“I’m convinced that the only
thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what
you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work
is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly
satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great
work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t
settle.” —Steve Jobs
I listened to Oprah Winfrey's
commencement speech, 2013 at Harvard University. There are several takeaways
from her thought-provoking and inspiring speech. I got a trigger to identify the true purpose and calling. Many people don’t realize their true purpose and
calling thus struggling throughout their lives.
Identifying one’s passions
and leading life with purpose is easier said than done. Many people don’t know
how to discover their passions. They grope in darkness due to a lack of
guidance. In this post, I will discuss discovering your passion and leading your
life with purpose and meaning.
The children have different
dreams. When they grow their dreams change and passions change. When they come
to a particular age, they will be able to discover their passions. When you
want to discover your passions, take psychometric tests such as MBTI. You can
also approach your educator, coach, or psychologist to identify your passions.
You can also identify your passions easily when you have self-awareness. When
you do certain activities, you get excited. In contrast, when you do certain
activities, you are bored. The activities that excite you are your passions.
You can shortlist the passion as per your age, environment, and availability of
resources.
After identifying your
passion, you must lead your life with purpose and meaning. You are blessed with
one life. So, you must avoid insignificant activities and emphasize significant
activities. When you emphasize important and productive activities continuously
with a focus and work hard consistently, you will be able to enjoy your journey
and reach your destination of success.
Conclusion
Life
is too short. Make it sweet. Remember, you live only once. Hence, discover your
passion, set your vision, and lead your life with a purpose to provide meaning
to your life and leave your legacy to the next generations. Life is great.
