The Power of Self-Education!

Some of the achievers including Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerburg are college dropouts. They achieved amazing success through informal and self-education. Although formal education is important, the importance of informal education cannot be underestimated.

 

When I was 18 years old I dropped out of college and joined the Indian Air Force to support my parents financially. I continued my journey of education in the military and acquired six qualifications―DME, BSc, MA, MBA, PGDCLL, and PGDBM. I am a self-learner and self-taught. I am an autodidact. I used to go far distant places to acquire knowledge in my initial days. It was very painful to go distant places by bicycle to acquire knowledge. After the advent of the internet, things have become easier for me. Now there are plenty of opportunities for many people to learn online for free. If you are passionate you can learn and update yourself regularly. Life is all about learning, unlearning, and relearning. When my colleagues were enjoying their weekends and holidays in the Indian Air Force I worked hard to acquire education. My life is full of struggles, sufferings, and sacrifices.

 

Conclusion

 

Elon Musk encourages self-learning rather than formal learning. Technology has made education accessible to all. There are many opportunities for learners and especially self-learners. To conclude, leverage technology to become a lifelong learner.
