Words of Wisdom on Soft Skills, Hard Skills, and Humility

Empathy is the ability to step into the shoes of others and viewing from others’ perspectives.  It is not sitting in one place. It is stepping into the shoes of others and perceiving the world from others’ perspectives. True empathy is always honest and not giving up. It is forgetting about yourself for the benefit of others. Hence, empathy is a soft skill.  

Thinking is a state of mind to create content and communicate with others. Having strong content is a hard skill and having great communication is a soft skill. Thinking is essential in both cases. Hence, thinking creates both hard and soft skills. However, critical thinking ability is a soft skill because it helps solve problems and form judgments. 

People often think about how can humble leaders promote themselves. In fact, humility doesn’t have anything to do with promotion. People must promote their products and services to earn their livelihood and add value to others. The humble leaders do promote as they must survive and succeed. People are intelligent to differentiate between humble leaders and arrogant leaders. The humble leaders neither underestimate nor overestimate themselves and others, unlike arrogant leaders who overestimate themselves and underestimate others. Humble leaders are trustworthy and reliable. They respect others consistently without any gap between their intentions and actions. They treat others with respect irrespective of their rank, role, and position. When humble leaders do promotion, people realize their true intentions and actions and promote them. On the other hand, people stay away from arrogant leaders. Arrogant leaders often forget that they were born from semen and develop arrogance when they achieve a little success. They must note that popularity is a passing cloud. They must understand that they brought nothing into this world when they were born and carry nothing when they leave this world forever.  They must stay grounded and down-to-earth to win respect from others.


Soft Skills in the Post-Pandemic World

In the post-COVID world, there will be less physical interaction among the employees as they operate more virtually. Interpersonal conflicts are likely to rise due to technology. Team leaders may find it challenging to lead their teams. It becomes challenging for them to motivate their teams. So, there will be an increased emphasis on soft skills in the digital world.
