Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must Intervene to Check Corruption and Irregularities in Private Colleges—Professor M.S. Rao, Ph.D.—21st-Century Philosopher & The Father of “Soft Leadership”

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” ―Mahatma Gandhi

Presently the scenario in the private pharmacy, medical and engineering colleges in some of the states of India is terrible. There is no quality of education imparted to the students and the educators are not treated with dignity and honor. The educators who question the system are removed arbitrarily. Faculty don't receive salaries on time. Worse, they don't get a salary when they leave these private colleges. The owners of these private colleges file wrong cases against leaving faculty to avoid paying salaries. Some of the senior professors and principals are retained by force in services without paying their salaries as the new professors and principals are unwilling to join these rogue colleges. The serving principals and professors are caught between the devil and the deep sea. They have their family obligations and financial commitments and are concerned about the muscle power of the owners of these colleges. Since they are intellectuals they cannot stoop low like the owners of these private colleges. These notorious owners are noted for using local goons to settle the scores and crush the opposition and rebellion at any cost. They have nexus with top politicians as they fund political parties regularly. They have money power and muscle power but lack of moral power.

Usually, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s federal investigative agency enters to check corruption and irregularities in the Central Government. It doesn’t enter into State Government without the latter’s permission. In rare cases, CBI can enter to check corruption and irregularities in private pharmacy, medical and engineering colleges. Presently there is a lot of corruption and irregularities in the private colleges in India. Some of the state governments including Telangana conducted special task forces to check corruption and irregularities in these private colleges. These unscrupulous colleges are notorious for hiring the faculty before the inspections to meet the requirements of their affiliated universalities and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and firing the faculty after the inspections. These colleges adopt the philosophy of ‘use and throw’ of faculty which must end immediately.

Since there are many irregularities and complaints, CBI must enter to check the corruption and irregularities in these private colleges. It helps ensure a transparent system where students get a good education as per the standards; and the faculty and non-teaching employees get their salaries on time. It can also check cheating by these private colleges who avoid paying salaries to faculty when the latter leaves their colleges. It eliminates the arbitrary removal of faculty from services without addressing the grievances. Presently some private colleges in Telangana State don’t pay summer salaries to their faculty. These colleges cheat faculty by not paying salaries for many months. If faculty complains to their affiliated universities and regulating bodies, their lives are under threat as the owners of these private colleges have close connections with local goons and mafia. They also have nexus with top politicians. They fund all political parties during elections. Hence, the faculty finds it very tough to work in an unhealthy academic ambiance. Since educators are intellectuals, they cannot stoop low like the owners of these private colleges who behave like goons with the faculty on the college campuses. Hence, there is an urgent need for CBI to enter into such private colleges to address the grievances of faculty and students. Remember, the day corruption enters into Indian Armed Forces and Indian educational institutions, the country will collapse. Hence, I implore CBI to intervene to check corrupt colleges and cancel their affiliations to infuse confidence in students and faculty to ensure quality education to take India to great heights globally. Jai Hind!

Men are Smart but Women are Smarter—Professor M.S. Rao, Ph.D. #HeForShe 21st-Century Philosopher & The Father of “Soft Leadership”

Can you imagine what the world would be like if women, who constitute almost half of the global population, had access to education and opportunities and were allowed to contribute their best? We would achieve prosperity globally in all spheres.” ―Professor M.S. Rao, Ph.D., #HeForShe

There is a heated debate between men and women regarding their strengths and weaknesses, competencies, and capabilities. It is always a moot point who is superior and smarter sex. I have made a few observations during my 45 years of experience in various capacities in teaching, training, consultancy, and research. Here goes about men and women.

It is observed that when a man communicates with a woman, he often concentrates more on her physical features, such as her smile and her great looks. In contrast, when a woman communicates with a man, she often looks beyond the man's face. She concentrates more on genuineness in his conversations, emotions, and feelings—the intensity and the energy of voice and imagines and interprets the man accordingly. She also gauges whether the man speaks from his heart or head. The famous psychologist Sigmund Freud once remarked, "Despite my thirty years of research into the feminine soul, I have not been able to answer... the great question that has never been answered: what does a woman want?" Probably Sigmund Freud focused more on the physical appearances of women rather than on reading their egos, emotions, and feelings, which led to such a comment!

Women are often more assertive than men, who want to prove their point without hurting others and respecting others' points of view. They protect their rights without hurting the rights of others. They know the art of saying 'No' firmly but politely. They can eat the cake and have it too, which is often impossible for men.

Women often avoid conflicts initially. If the conflicts are thrust upon them repeatedly, they take it forward and make sure that the conflicts are resolved amicably. Since men are the stronger sex, they often think of attacking others physically rather than talking politely while resolving conflicts. Women often resolve conflicts through consensus and collaboration rather than competition, compromise, and accommodation.

During communication, men are smart at looking at body language, oral language, and voice modulation, and evaluating others. On the other hand, women are smarter by not only looking at these overt cues but also at covert cues such as feelings, emotions, and egos, which is known as hidden data of communication. It is the key thing that makes the difference between men and women. That is why it is said that women are good at interpersonal skills and soft skills. Although women are physically weaker, God compensated them with these extra abilities and skills.

Often, women can sustain pain without reflecting externally, whereas men demonstrate it externally. Women are often good at emotional intelligence. However, men tend to exhibit aggressiveness due to biological reasons. Women are good at multitasking, while men are not.

During my training and teaching sessions, I have made one more specific observation about women. They ask fewer questions and grasp information better than men. They also digest complicated content easily. However, men often request me to repeat the various aspects of the content as they often fail to grasp it. The majority of women know how to relate the delivered content with real-life events and experiences, thus acquiring the essence easily. Hence, they know how to apply their knowledge better than men, who often find it tough to comprehend the content itself and forget about the application of knowledge that comes in a later stage.

Research reveals that the majority of men mature more slowly than women mentally. It is very tough to predict exactly at what age a man's maturity is equal to a woman's age of maturity. Women are persistent and persuasive. They are more creative than men and are better listeners. However, they take fewer risks than men. Above all, women can blend hard and soft skills in greater proportion than men for professional success.

Men often complain that it is very tough to predict women. They also say that it is easy to know the depth of an ocean but difficult to know the depth of a woman's heart. Even great intellectuals such as Sigmund Freud and George Bernard Shaw commented on women in a similar way. Hence, next time men communicate with women, they should pay more attention to women's feelings, emotions, and egos rather than their physical appearances, which would help bridge the gap between men and women and make men as intelligent as women.
