Bollywood, Biopics, and Blockbusters―Share if You Care!

“All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story or tell a story about them.” —Isak Dinesen

Presently there are several biopics in the Indian film industry. There were several biopics including Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi that were blockbusters globally. Currently, increased attention is paid to biopics in India as producers are getting decent returns and the audiences are welcoming them wholeheartedly.

Biopics inspire people to understand the inner challenges and struggles of famous people. People are often swayed away by the external appearances and achievements of the eminent people. When they view the biopics, they understand the inner struggles, sacrifices, peaks, and valleys of the eminent people. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf rightly remarked, “One has to look at my life story to see what I've done. I've paid a heavy price that many people don't realize.” Biopics offer education, entertainment, and enlightenment to the audiences. Audiences empathize and accept that achieving success is not easy in life. Biopics enlighten audiences that famous people were also ordinary individuals but with extraordinary passion, zeal, energy, and enthusiasm. They encourage audiences to encounter challenges squarely. Above all, they help audiences dream and achieve big in life.

The Significance of Biopic Films

“Everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story.” —John Barth

If the characters undergo frequent struggles and sufferings in their life, the biopic becomes an inspiration to the audiences and offers valuable takeaways. I will be very happy if any film producer comes forward to make my biopic as it becomes the biggest blockbuster. It inspires everyone especially students to understand the challenges I have undergone hailing from humble origins with self-education and peaks and valleys. Of course, I did not kick up any controversies in my life which would spice up the film. My life is full of struggles, sufferings, and sacrifices. I am a self-made man and served in the Indian Air Force. I was cheated by my relatives and rescued by my friends. I had extreme lows and peaks and reached the tipping point as an award-winning author. People can learn many lessons in my life. I am a multifaceted personality with diversified backgrounds including military, business, teaching, research, consultancy, writing and philosophy. Choose Your Biopic Wisely

“It is easy to make stuff up - and easy to dig up information and repeat it or report it to others. But to find a real life story with real people in real life situations is quite difficult and time-consuming. Yet, the rewards are worth the effort.” —Lee Gutkind

Any biopic must be based on facts and figures. It must not present a rosy picture. It must win the mind, heart, and soul of the audiences. Any attempt to deviate or distort the facts will make the film bomb at the box office. Before choosing the biopic, the directors must ensure that the eminent person is inspiring with ups and downs and struggles and sufferings. Audiences must learn some lessons. They must leave the cinema halls with takeaways.

Conclusion

“Your life story is a gift, and it should be treated as such.” —Emily V. Gordon

Biopics leave a legacy to future generations and enlighten that life is not a cakewalk. They convey message to the audiences that life is worth living if it has challenges. To conclude, we must encourage films on biopics to enable our next generations about the challenges the eminent individuals have undergone and enlighten that there is always a silver lining over the dark cloud and another day to fight and win.
