“Shimon Peres ― A Dreamer, Doer and a Visionary Leader who Achieved Israel’s Peace and Prosperity” ―Professor M.S.Rao

One of the living visionary leaders I admire the most is Shimon Peres. He is an author, statesman, and a great dreamer.  He was the ninth President of Israel from 2007 to 2014. He won the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize together with Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat for the peace talks that he participated in as Israeli Foreign Minister, producing the Oslo Accords.

Shimon Peres is a great dreamer and doer. He is an inspiration to the world.  There are a number of leadership lessons we can learn from him. Here are some of them.  

Dream Big. People are often scared of dreaming big because bigger the dreams bigger the expectations from all the stakeholders.  But the fact is that to dream low is a crime. Since you dream always, why don’t you dream big to achieve big in your life. Shimon Peres is a great dreamer. He once remarked, “I was a great dreamer. But today, when people ask me, what’s your greatest mistake, I say my dream was too small. I recommend to young people whose world it is today – dream big, don’t hesitate. The greater your dreams, the more you can achieve.”
Be an Optimist. Shimon Peres is an optimist. He has the ability to see the silver lining on the dark cloud. When the entire world believed that there was no future for Israel, he proved them wrong by leading from the front to take Israel to the present position. He rightly remarked, “Optimists and pessimists die the same way. They just live differently. I prefer to live as an optimist.”
Believe in Human Resources. Israel is not blessed with natural resources. It has lots of challenges including enemies around. But Shimon Peres persevered and persuaded others to create peace to take Israel to great heights globally. He believed more in human resources and talent. He channeled them to build Israel as a great country in the world. He said, “When you have nothing, you discover. You have something that is called a human being.” He adds, “History is the story of people who have blessed the land – not land that has blessed people. At a very early age, I learnt that you have to cultivate the human being.”
Keep Things Confidential. Shimon Peres is noted for attending several secret meetings. He is a highly confidential person. He keeps cards close to his chest. It is tough for his enemies to predict his movements. At times he befriends with his enemies. He believes in the philosophy of ‘there are no permanent friends and permanent enemies in the world’ to achieve the final objective of global peace and prosperity.

“My Bitter Experience with Private Engineering Colleges in the Telangana State” ―Professor M.S.Rao

Wherever I worked in private engineering colleges in the state of Telangana, several students asked me the same question, “With such a global profile, why are you working in this college, Sir?” Initially I responded to many students. Gradually I started smiling without giving any response when this question was posed to me repeatedly by several students in various colleges.

My experience with private engineering colleges in Hyderabad was horrible. No professionalism, no ethics, and no proper system and mechanism. I survived in these colleges due to my emotional intelligence which I acquired from Indian Air Force. I served in these unprofessional colleges as I was passionate about students and shaping them as great global citizens. It did not matter whether I worked in substandard educational institutions or unprofessional educational institutions. What mattered me was sharing my knowledge with students. Initially when several students questioned me for working in such low profile colleges with such a great global profile, I replied them that the profile of these colleges didn’t matter me to serve students. What mattered me was sharing my knowledge with students. I lived by that principle throughout and shared my knowledge with students. I am happy to share with you that I have been gifted with great students from these unprofessional educational institutions. I am proud to say that I have made a difference to them, and created my own fan base wherever I served in these private engineering colleges in Telangana. This is the only bonus.

It was a bitter experience working in an unhealthy ambience without any professionalism and lack of ethics and etiquette. I tried my level best to reform the educational institutions wherever I worked but subsequently I confined myself to shaping students as better citizens than reforming these unprofessional colleges.

Wherever I worked, I maintained my own healthy zone to interact with a few likeminded intellectuals to recharge myself. I maintained safe distance from unhealthy people to keep my intellectual curiosity alive and kicking. I captured my thoughts and put them into writings and blogged them regularly. In this way, I utilized my time for the benefit of students wherever I served. I counseled the students who approached me for career guidance. I also gifted books to students with my own money. I dedicated books to them and gifted them to make a positive difference in students.

Wherever I served, I enjoyed in the company of students but felt often bad about working in unprofessional colleges.  But I had no alternative but choosing the best out of the worst. My vision was to shape students as healthy citizens and global leaders. In this way, I am happy that I made a significant difference to students. But it is unfortunate that no educational institution has added value to my CV. Only one institution that converted me from a boy to a man; added immense value to my CV; and shaped my personality is Indian Air Force. I love this prestigious organization and I am grateful to it for what I am today.

Stedman Graham once remarked, "People who consider themselves victims of their circumstances will always remain victims unless they develop a greater vision for their lives."  To conclude, don’t blame institutions and individuals around you. You must choose the best out of the worst. You must create a healthy climate based on your value system to contribute your best to grow and build leaders around you. Remember, it is the bad tradesman who blames his tools and it is the wise tradesman who works with what he has, and from where he is.

“Dear Faculty Members! Don’t Join Fraud Private Pharmacy, Medical and Engineering Colleges in Telangana State. You Get Cheated at the End.” ―Professor M.S.Rao

You may be eager to join any private pharmacy, medical and engineering college in the state of Telangana. You must check the credentials of the colleges before joining. Don’t go by manipulated ranking by these colleges as they pay money to get ranked. Additionally, don’t go by their branding as they believe in their branding rather than adding value to students and stakeholders. First of all, check whether the college is faculty or employee-friendly or not because it is observed that some colleges are fraud who don’t pay salaries to their employees for a period of three months when the faculty leave the college.  Worse, they don’t give relieving orders and service certificates to the leaving faculty members to avoid getting caught by the regulating bodies.  They also don’t give last pay drawn certificate as they show to regulating authorities like AICTE and affiliated universities that they are paying huge salaries on record. They also cheat Income Tax department by showing high salaries. Worse, they debit income tax for the amount shown as per the records from the faculty members. In this way, the faculty members end up paying more income tax to the income tax department as per the inflated salary shown by these fraud colleges, not as per the actual salary received from these fraud colleges.  These fraud colleges are noted for spending huge money for building brand and bribing officials to their affiliated universities and regulating authorities. The working faculty members don’t realize these aspects since they are working and are not in a position to fight with the owners of these fraud colleges. These owners have strong political connections and nexus with mafia. They have money power and muscle power. But they don’t have any moral power.

I implore the faculty members who are intellectuals and noted for ethical values to check the background of the colleges first before accepting employment offers. Everybody needs employment. At the same time, every employer needs good employees. It is a win-win for both employees and employers. Hence, make sure that you don’t join fraud colleges who cheat you when you leave the colleges. The owners of these colleges preach ethical values publicly but practice unethical methods privately by filing wrong cases or using force or coercion against the leaving faculty members and employees. But remember, ‘truth alone triumphs in the world’.

If essential, CBI must intervene to check irregularities in these private educational institutions in the state of Telangana. In future, you will be reading more such articles about fraud colleges in this blog to enable the students to take appropriate precautions before joining colleges and the faculty to avoid getting cheated by them.

I am also planning to create a movement to free Indian education system from corruption and irregularities to make it students and faculty-friendly. The day corruption enters into Indian educational institutions and Indian Armed Forces, the country will collapse. Hence, let us create more awareness to check corruption in all spheres to build a better India. Jai Hind!
