Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam | The Whole World is One Family | Professor M.S. Rao
“Hatred
doesn’t have any place in the world. Love is the only way to connect with the
world. Love breaks all barriers including political, social, cultural,
religious, racial, and national. We are all the branches of one tree. The root
is one. The world is our root; branches are the nations; and leaves are the
people. Let us appreciate the fact that we all have originated from one place
and we all belong to one family. The whole world is one family (Vasudhaiva
Kutumbakam).” ― Professor M.S.Rao
People from
different nations fight against each other and attack personally which is
uncalled for. For instance, Indians often accuse Pakistanis and Pakistanis
often accuse Indians especially when there is a cricket match between these two
countries which is not healthy. Treat sport as a sport and enjoy it. Both
Indians and Pakistanis are brothers and sisters separated by a border. They
lived together for many years with fraternity and brotherhood. Let us forget
the unpleasant past and move forward with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Above-average
individuals think about the long-term, average individuals think about the
short-term, and below-average individuals think about the unpleasant past. Let
us become smarter and wiser by looking at the similarities and ignoring
differences. As life is not perfect, people are not perfect and nations are not
perfect. We are living in an imperfect world. Let us understand this fact and
learn to live with the realities.
We are one
family. God is one but religions are many. The planet is one but nations are
many. Gold is one but ornaments are many.
Milk is one but cows are many. Water is one but rivers are many. Blood
is one color but people are many with different colors. We are all brothers and
sisters.
Every nation
has strengths and weaknesses. You must take the best from each nation. Look at
the similarities, not the differences to create one global society. Emphasize
humanity.
Takeaway: We are on
this planet temporarily. So let us live with fraternity and brotherhood to
build a better world.

Life Lessons From Older People | Leadership Lessons | Professor M.S. Rao
“The good
leaders do the best thing in the prevailing situation whereas the great leaders
do the right thing in any situation irrespective of the effects and outcomes.”
―Professor M.S. Rao
There are
several lessons young people can learn from older people especially millennials
and centennials. Older people have vast experience and understand life better
than others. They have both positive and negative experiences. You must pay attention
to older people to become smarter and wiser.
I researched
older people and found certain aspects. They are optimistic. They led a happy
life. They are blessed with many things. They are lucky people. They hardly
have any regrets. They keep up with changing times and technologies. They have
fond memories.
Here are
some lessons we can learn from older people.
Take risk. Go out and do something. Be independent and confident. Beware
of the person who has nothing to lose. Miracles happen every day. Avoid sharing
secrets with others. Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.
Maintain a journal. Respect people around based on referent power, not
positional power. Add value to society. Respect people irrespective of their
rank and position. 80 percent of the success in any job is based on your soft
skills while 20 percent on your hard skills. Don't expect life to be fair. Life
is complex. So, make it simple. Celebrate your successes. Choose your spouse
carefully. Experience new things and enjoy your life.
Takeaway: Age is just
a number to achieve success. Learn lessons from older people to minimize
mistakes and maximize success to lead your life with purpose and meaning.
"Try to
listen to your elders and parents when you are young — remember that they only
want the best for you." —David H
