How to Become a Go-Getter? | Attitude, Personality, and Behavior| Soft Skills
“I rose from
humble origins with a toxic family background. When I was 18 years old, I
dropped out of college to support my parents and joined the Indian Air Force. I
had to struggle hard to earn my livelihood. I sacrificed my personal time,
invested a portion of my monthly salary and resources, and acquired several
qualifications including DME, BSc, MA, MBA, PGDCLL, and PGDBM. I earned my
Ph.D. in 2011. I understand the pain of life. I am a self-made man. I have come
to know that there's no such thing as a free lunch.” ―Professor M.S. Rao
I have the
habit of taking feedback at the end of every interview, teaching session, and
training program. When I asked the host after the completion of the interview
about the feedback, he informed me that I am a go-getter. I rarely used this
term although I am aware of it. In this post, I will discuss the qualities of a
go-getter and grow like a go-getter.
I rose from
humble origins with toxic family background. I understand the pain of life as I
underwent struggles, sufferings, and betrayals. I take life the way it comes
but lead my life with purpose and meaning. I am straightforward and don't mind
asking for help from others to get things done.
Go-getters
explore opportunities. They are responsible for their life and attitude. They
are independent thinkers. They keep moving forward despite setbacks and
disappointments. They take initiative and responsibility. They don’t need
prompting from others. They lead from the front. They are positive and
proactive. They take advantage of opportunities. They are usually extroverts
and a few are ambiverts. They face challenges head-on. They don't brood over
the problems. They get into action to explore solutions. They are consistent in
their contributions and persistent to achieve the desired outcomes. They
understand what they can control and what they cannot control. They control
within their limits. They keep moving forward irrespective of the outcome. They
are unperturbed. They are rare breed achievers to hit the bull's eye. They are
mindful and lead meaningful lives.
Here are
some tips to grow as a go-getter. Be emotionally intelligent. Acquire soft
skills to get along with people. Don't hesitate to talk with others. Don't
worry about problems and failures. Keep moving forward. At the same time learn
lessons from mistakes to become a successful go-getter.
Takeaway:
You don’t get things on a platter. Don’t hesitate to become a go-getter. Keep
going and getting things done. Be courageous. Be assertive. Be victorious.
