Bamboo: The Miracle Plant

“Overnight success is an exception, not a rule. Successful people planted seeds, watered the seeds, and saw the seeds growing into plants and trees. Therefore, make the right choices every day. Stay on your game. Keep going for your dreams.” ―Professor M.S. Rao

I take feedback at the end of every year. When I took the feedback for the year 2020, I did not accomplish even a single goal. I felt that it was the coronavirus that threw my goals out of gear. I recalled the bamboo tree that takes a long time to shoot out from the ground.

The bamboo plant takes a long time because it strengthens its roots in the initial years, unlike other plants that grow quickly without strong roots. The growth is not visible initially for the bamboo plant. But it grows exponentially later. So, things take their own time. Never give up. Work hard, work smart, and work wise. Invest your efforts consistently to accomplish your goals.

Takeaway: Growth requires perspiration, persistence, and patience. Take action consistently. There is no overnight success. Keep moving forward. Have strong roots so that you cannot be toppled.

How to Deal With Insults and Humiliations in Your Life?

“The good leaders do the best thing in the prevailing situation whereas the great leaders do the right thing in any situation irrespective of the effects and outcomes.” ―Professor M.S. Rao

Insults and humiliations are an integral part of life. Some people take them too seriously and brood over them. They get depressed finally. Some people adopt the method of ‘tit for tat.’ They take revenge. It is a wastage of their precious time and energy. Here are some tips to address them. Find out if there is any problem on your side. If you have made any mistake unconsciously, apologize. If there is no problem on your part, respond to them assertively. If the other person is not in the mood and still hits you below the belt, smile, and leave the place to avoid kicking up controversies. You must know how to deal with them. Act. Don’t react. Be cool and composed. You cannot afford to think about them. Lead your life mindfully. Life is short. Let us make it sweet. Focus on positive things.

When I was young, I was often angry. But life taught me several bitter lessons. Several betrayals by my rogue relatives made me become tough.

Takeaway: Convert a negative situation into a positive situation. Don't carry any emotional baggage. Let go off.
