Netflix Barbarians Takeaways

“To win a war, draw a crystal-clear strategy, fix a deadline, motivate the stakeholders, take feedback regularly, and change tactics, tools, and techniques.” ―Professor M.S. Rao

I enjoyed watching Barbarians on Netflix as I am passionate about history, military, and strategy. It may be because I served in the Indian Air Force.  Here are some messages, ideas, and insights from this 2020 TV series. Nothing is forever. Burn doubt and hesitation. Acquire courage and strength. Everything will perish eventually. Nothing lasts forever. Where blood flows, wisdom flows too. Be as fast as an arrow. Come together, fight together, and rise together. Create faith in your followers. The snake is too long when you cut off the tail, the head doesn’t know. All warfare is full of techniques and treachery. The key thing is that we can only win if we are in control of our emotions. A man’s true pride lies in being able to choose his own end. You must maintain order in your ranks while destroying that of the enemy. Recognize your enemy’s greatest weaknesses and bring all your strength down on this one point. Your biggest strength is your biggest weakness.

Takeaways

Be stoic when encountered with stiff opposition. Be resilient. Big people have bigger challenges. In ancient times, there were dealings, commercials, hard bargains, and no rules exactly. Dead were offered a decent burial. Tricks were quite common. Betrayals happened. To conclude, take the best that suits your principles and philosophies and remember that what worked in the past may not work now and in the future. Remember, nothing is invincible in this world.
