“Some people prefer to going outside to eat although they can enjoy the food at home. Some people prefer to going to theaters to view movies on big screens although they can see them on streaming platforms. So, it is too early to conclude that streaming platforms will end theatrical experience forever.” ―Professor M.S. Rao

Words of Wisdom―What is Your Strategy for Life?

“If I have 300 ideas in a year and just one turns out to work, I am satisfied.” —Alfred Nobel

Most people don’t have any strategy for their life. They lead their life the way it goes. They don’t plan well to proceed forward. Some people plan well and proceed but fail to sustain when encountered with frequent failures.  A few people draw a strategy, execute it effectively, and succeed ultimately. In this regard, we will discuss drawing a strategy to lead your life with purpose and meaning.

A Blueprint to Your Life Strategy

“Strategy is about setting yourself apart from the competition. It’s not a matter of being better at what you do – it’s a matter of being different at what you do.” —Michael Porter

When you look at most Nobel Laureates, they owe their successes to their teachers, mentors, and coaches in their early life. They followed their teachers religiously, focused in niche areas, worked hard relentlessly, and achieved success finally. This is a long-term strategy. In contrast, most people avoid niche areas and imitate others to achieve popularity. They hardly realize that popularity is a passing cloud. This is a short-term strategy. The people with a long-term strategy and execution stand out beyond their lifetime whereas the people with a short-term strategy earn accolades and fame but fade away in their lifetime. Seth Godin rightly remarked, “Fitting in is a short-term strategy, standing out pays off in the long run.” Therefore, you must draw your strategy and leadership philosophy the way you would like to be remembered.

Conclusion

“I believe that people make their own luck by great preparation and good strategy.” —Jack Canfield

When you want to stand out in the long run, you must enter into a niche area and work on them relentlessly. You may either get a Nobel Prize or become an unsung hero/heroine. On the other hand, when you enter into general areas without focusing on niche areas, you may enjoy short-term popularity which is like a passing cloud. You may not be able to live beyond your lifetime. To conclude, there is nothing like a fixed strategy to achieve success in your life. It all depends on your mindset, principles, and philosophies.

“A vision and strategy aren’t enough. The long-term key to success is execution. each day. Every day.” —Richard M. Kovacevich
