‘Becoming’ on Netflix

“So many of us go through life with our stories hidden, feeling ashamed or afraid when our whole truth doesn’t live up to some established ideal.” —Michelle Obama

I read Michelle Obama’s award-winning book Becoming and viewed the inspiring documentary on Netflix. She inspires millions of people globally to dare, dream, and achieve big in their lives. Here are some lessons you can learn from her.

Dream big. Take risks. Build connections. Work sincerely. Overcome distractions. Manage frustrations. Follow your passions. Be a storyteller. Focus more on stories and less on stats. Don’t worry about the others’ opinions because you alone know your true worth. Avoid seeking approval and validation from others. Above all, be optimistic.

Michelle Obama is a multi-faceted personality—lawyer, author, entrepreneur, mentor, and motivational speaker. She has her own opinions on multiple areas including education, politics, parenting, career, and nonprofits. Her life is an example of humility, humanity, and hope that inspires millions of people across the world.

The women of color are often undervalued and stereotyped. They are not recognized for their contributions. Yet Michell Obama made it big in her way. Of course, a little credit goes to Barack Obama who rose from humble origins and struggled to reach the office of the presidency.

"One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals." —Michelle Obama

COVID-19: Words of Wisdom―Life is Like a Ship. Sail Smoothly to the Shore

“Though we see the same world, we see it through different eyes.” —Virginia Woolf

Everyone encounters challenges in life. Some are expected and many are unexpected. Life is like a circus with peaks and valleys. We must be prepared to face the challenges. When we sail on ship, we are likely to encounter unfavorable climatic conditions. We must be prepared to face them. We must not blame the wind. Instead, we must adjust the sails.

People often blame God for their challenges. They must understand that God throws them challenges to make them sharper, smarter, and stronger. Those who come out of the challenges excel as effective leaders. In fact, challenges unlock their hidden potential because they think from multiple perspectives to overcome the challenges.

Conclusion

“When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” —Haruki Murakami

Remember that life is like a ship. The ship in port is safe but it is not meant for that. It is built for traveling. Similarly, life is meant for taking the risks and enjoying the highs and lows of life with excitement. Life is great!

“All sorrows can be borne if you put them in a story or tell a story about them.” —Isak Dinesen
