“People, Planet and Profit; not Profit, Planet and People to Check Climate Change” ―Professor M.S.Rao

“Climate change does not respect border; it does not respect who you are - rich and poor, small and big. Therefore, this is what we call 'global challenges,' which require global solidarity.” ― Ban Ki-moon

Currently there are innumerable global challenges including intolerance, terrorism, climate change, poverty, malnutrition and disease. People are busy with their personal, professional and social lives due to rising volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity globally. They are more concerned about present and their children. Unfortunately, they are not concerned about others and the future. It led to focusing on the philosophy of ‘profit first, people second and planet third’ which is a step in retrograde direction.  Above all, they often think about ‘what is in it for me’ rather than adding value to others. In this article, we will discuss about climate change which poses a grave threat to the globe and it questions the very survival of human race.

The consequences of climate change include intense heat waves and super storms to rising sea levels. Additionally, there are innumerable threats to public health. Therefore, it is essential to shift from the philosophy of ‘profit first, people second and planet third’ to ‘people first, planet second and profit third’.

It is essential to reduce carbon emissions that are fuelling climate change. There's no "silver bullet" that will solve climate change. If climate change is not addressed immediately and earnestly, there will be chaos globally with migration of people and alterations in geographical boarders. Hence, climate change affects all counties globally. No nation can be spared. Every nation must come forward to address this issue. All leaders from developed and developing countries must work hard collectively to address this challenge. It is futile to blame some countries for the present global scenario as all are responsible to the present global mess.

Conclusion

“The most important thing about global warming is this. Whether humans are responsible for the bulk of climate change is going to be left to the scientists, but it's all of our responsibility to leave this planet in better shape for the future generations than we found it.” ― Mike Huckabee

Don’t live beyond your means. Live within your means to protect the environment. Every global citizen must be conscious about the environment. It is everybody’s responsibility. We cannot pin the total responsibility on leaders alone. Every right thinking global citizen must take responsibility to protect this beautiful plant.

"No challenge  poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change" ― Barack Obama
