“I Have a Dream. Vision 2030 One Million Global Leaders” – Professor M.S.Rao

I have a dream that I will build one million students as global leaders by 2030. I am confident that I will make it happen.

Globally there is a looming leadership crisis due to the retirement of Baby boomers. Gen Y is ready to undertake leadership roles and responsibility as they are not equipped with leadership skills and abilities. Due to the sudden exit of Baby boomers, organizations will suffer due to dearth of experienced leadership talent. Therefore, I created a vision to build one million students as global leaders by 2030. Since I belong to Gen X, I consider it an opportunity to bridge the gap between the Baby boomers and Gen Y. I am passionate about leadership and I am into teaching profession. Additionally, I am passionate about students. I have diversified areas of experience including defence, industry, teaching, training and consultancy. Hence, I decided to blend my diversified experience with my passionate area of leadership to build global leaders. Some of my students express their reservations about my vision. I tell that I am only 51 years old with very high energy levels with a passion to make a difference to the world.  Additionally, I make use of social media to reach out to students globally.

To achieve anything in life, dream is imperative.  I have a dream that I will be able to build one million students as global leaders by 2030. It is possible as age is my favor and I have already trained 25000 students so far, and I can easily accomplish my dream to build the balance global leaders within 16 years.  I also started building team of students to work with me through online to accomplish my vision.

To conclude, leaders are dreamers, they craft their vision and work hard relentlessly to accomplish their vision. Remember, everything is possible if there is passion, vision, commitment, and persistence.

“One person can make a difference. In fact, it's not only possible for one person to make a difference, it's essential that one person makes a difference. And believe it or not, that person is you.” - Bob Riley

My Personal Vision Statement

Identify Global Challenges and Explore Solutions to Build Your Leadership Brand to Grow as a Global Leader – Professor M.S.Rao

"Even individuals need to develop a brand for themselves .... Whatever your area of expertise, you can take steps to make people think of YOU when they think of your field." - Accelepoint Webzine

When you want to make a difference to the world you must identify the unique global challenges and explore innovative solutions to resolve them. When you want to build your leadership brand globally, you must adopt unconventional tools and techniques. When you want to grow as a global leader to leave an everlasting impact, you must be passionate about people and explore your external global environment constantly.  Here is a blueprint to build your leadership brand, and to grow as a global leader to make a difference to the world:

Explore unconventionally to find out the global challenges in your area of interest. Do extensive research about the challenges and shortlist one major challenge which is more problematic, and in which you are most passionate to address.  Find out the causes, effects and remedies for the specific global challenge.  Utilize your experience to explore viable and feasible solutions to address the challenge. Think about the pros and cons and create a blueprint to resolve the challenge. Share your solutions with your operational, personal and strategic networks. Herminia Ibarra outlines in her book, Act Like a Leader, Think Like a Leader that the operational network helps you manage your current internal responsibilities, the personal network boosts your personal development, and strategic network focuses on new business directions and the stakeholders you must get on board to pursue these directions. Take feedback from all these three networks to improve your blueprint to proceed further.

Approach various associations and share your blueprint to address the global challenge. There will be heated dialogue, debate, discussion, and dissent which will provoke you to improve your blueprint further. Make use of social media which is cost-effective to reach out to the world instantly. For instance, TED talk helps you to a great extent to share your unique ideas and insights. Over a period of time, you will be noticed by others and build your leadership brand globally. As success breeds success, more and more people and organizations approach you to share your ideas and insights. It widens your leadership brand and ensures longevity of your leadership brand. If you look at Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, she grew globally in this way. She was a keen observer of her environment. She identified that there are less number of women leaders globally especially at the C-level. She delivered a TED talk which became an instant hit with lots of hits. It elevated her image globally and finally, she entered in Thinkers 50 as one of the management thinkers. Her award-winning book Lean In also sold globally because of her leadership brand. Hence, observe your external environment, look for challenges that fascinate you, find out viable and feasible solutions, and bring them to the right global platforms including social media to build your leadership brand to grow as a global leader to make a difference to the world.

Leverage India’s Demographic Dividend to Grow India as an Economic Super Power in the World

"There comes a special moment in everyone's life, a moment for which that person was born. That special opportunity, when he seizes it, will fulfill his mission—a mission for which he is uniquely qualified. In that moment he finds greatness. It is his finest hour."  - Winston Churchill

With the US President, Barack Obama’s visit to India to grace as a guest for Republic Day celebrations 2015, the world is watching keenly and closely about the India’s growing power globally.  India and Indians were ignored until recently. But with Barack Obama’s visit as the guest for Republic Day, the spotlight turned on India. He is the first US President to visit India twice and is the first US President to be guest for India’s Republic Day celebrations.

Presently India has several strategic strengths and advantages. It is time for us to recognize our strengths and leverage them to grow India as an economic super power in future. Here are some of the India’s strengths:

India is the largest democracy in the world with the youngest population. We have the largest speaking English speaking population in the world. We produce goods and services at low-cost without compromising quality. We sent low-cost Mangalyaan to Mars successfully. Our Indians are excelling globally in all spheres including Information Technology by offering low-cost services. In fact, they are the brain behind the success of many global companies. We have a maximum number of management thinkers globally doing their best for global good.  Most of the prestigious business schools in the world have Indian faculty members and three intellectuals are leading as Deans for three top business schools. Our Indians are spread across the world bringing laurels to our country.

Research shows that by 2022, the average Indian’s age would be 29, compared to 37 for China and the US, and 45 for Western Europe.  And India will have young population in the first half of the 21st century.  We must enhance employability skills among the Indian youth to enable them to grab employment opportunities. Otherwise, this demographic dividend will become an uncontrollable demographic disaster.

India must produce skilled manpower to meet the future requirements. Present Indian education system is not up to the expectations of the students as it is theory-oriented. It doesn’t emphasize on practical education. Hence, there is an urgent need to focus on developing skills among the Indian students and youth. Globally the Baby Boomers are retiring and there is a looming leadership vacuum. Hence, the young talent must be inculcated with leadership skills and abilities to groom them as leaders to accept roles and responsibilities. They must be kept in the leadership pipeline ready to encounter global challenges. These young leaders not only help India grow globally but also help other nations grow to build a better global society. Indians are adaptable and can go to any part of the world to work to build vibrant economies. They will make a huge difference to the global society.

Since we have the advantage of demographic dividend and we must know how to leverage it. If we ignore it, we lose this great opportunity as this demographic dividend will become a demographic disaster due to more number of old people living in India after 30 years.  Hence, Indian citizens and youth must leverage this advantage by working very hard to take India to great heights. Additionally, we are blessed with natural resources and we must know how to exploit them. We have plenty of other opportunities presently.  We must know how to grab them to make India as a strong country. We must cultivate a positive attitude and enhance our commitment levels to contribute our best to make India as an economic super power in the world. Remember, 21st century belongs to Asia and especially for India. India is a nation of aspirations. India is a nation of hopes. India is a nation of dreams. Hence, let us strive hard to accomplish our dreams build a strong nation.  Jai Hind!
