As every individual dreams of his/her
own future every citizen dreams of his/her own nation. Similarly, I have dreams
of my India. I want India to be one of the finest nations in the world with
peace, prosperity and stability. I want India to be a global leader to gel with
other nations and collaborate for universal brotherhood and fraternity. Here
are some of the challenges we must address to take India to great heights
globally.
Presently there is a wide gap between the
rich and poor that must be bridged. A study shows that India has more number of
billionaires. There is disproportionate distribution of wealth in India. It
shows that India is rich but Indians are poor. More people from rural areas are
migrating to urban areas for better opportunities. Hence, proper infrastructure
needs to be created. Bringing reforms in infrastructure helps immensely to
accelerate developmental activities. There is a need to build homes for the homeless.
Corruption has become a cancer to Indian society. Hence, there is a need to
bring appropriate viable legislations to check corruption.
We are rich in human resources and
natural resources. We are unable to exploit our natural resources. A small country
like Singapore grew without natural resources. Why cannot India grow despite
being blessed with natural resources? Additionally, we have human resources
especially more number of young population which is a demographic dividend for
India. We must tap this precious young population and channel their energies
for nation building. A study shows that
there is unemployability problem in India arising out of defective education.
The present education system emphasizes on theory, not practical education. It
encourages reading, writing and reproducing. It must be addressed earnestly to
create skilled workforce for better productivity and performance.
There is an urgent need to revolutionize
agriculture. Make industry agrarian oriented, not the other way round. Ensure that all Indians become literate and
employed. They must live in peace and prosperity everywhere. It is said that next
to God is neighbor. Hence, we must emphasize on good neighborly relations to
enable us to focus on development.
We have lots of advantages. For
instance, we survived global recession because of our inherent system. India is
a nation where people all faiths live together. Diversity is the bedrock of
India. Therefore, it is essential to strive for secularism to ensure unity and
integrity of India. There must be tolerance and respect for all cultures,
castes, communities, religions and regions.
I am proud to say that I belong to the
country of Mahatma Gandhi which taught the world by achieving independence
through non-violence. I belong to the country of Swami Vivekananda who
pioneered Indian spiritualism and bridged the gap between the east and the
west. I belong to the nation of Mother Teresa who served the poor and leper and
revered as mother of compassion globally. Compassion and tolerance are the
essence of Indian values and principles.
To conclude, it is essential to inculcate
patriotism and nationalism among Indians apart from imparting attitude and
enhancing commitment levels. There must be shift in the mindset of people from being
rights-oriented to duty-oriented. We must be proud of being Indians first and
Indians last to make India as a super power in the world. Jai Hind!
